Music4Connections
October 15, 2023
Music4Connections, founded in 2017 by brothers Edward and Evan Dan, is composed of over 80 passionate student volunteers who share a deep love for music. Originally established to bring the joy of music to nursing home residents, this group has performed six to ten concerts annually at various northeast Ohio nursing homes, and three talented participants will now share their talent at the Beachwood Community Center.
This program has nurtured the growth of numerous local and internationally acclaimed young musicians who possess an immense talent and a profound passion and love for music. The student musicians firmly believe that music has the power to transform lives, and they are working together toward making a difference in our community.
One of the performers will be Solon High School sophomore Evan Dan, an internationally accomplished pianist, who has achieved the first place award at the Carmel Klavier International Concerto Contest Competition and the Thomas F. Hulbert International Competition. After winning the CIM Preparatory Competition, Evan made his debut as a soloist with the CIM
Orchestra.
The second performer will be Beachwood High School junior Chengyu Li, who plays the piano, the cello and the drums and is a member of the Beachwood High School Band and Jazz Band. She is one of the leaders for the Music4Connections concerts and also plays the cello for the prestigious Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra.
Also performing will be Solon High School sophomore Frederick Song, who plays the piano and the violin. Having performed for Music4Connections for more than five years, he received The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) grade 8 exam certificate from the UK's largest music education body, which encourages learners to develop their musical skills,
knowledge, and understanding.
Music4Connections will perform classical music by Beethoven, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Weber, Bach, Massenet, and Debussy, as well as a few contemporary musical pieces by Muczynski, Ginastera, Zimmer & Powell.
This free concert is sponsored by grants from the Cleveland Foundation and the Ohio Arts Council. For more information about Music4Connections, visit Music4Connections on Facebook, or email music4connections@gmail.com.
